Privacy

What this site stores and sends, and what the libraries do with your data.

This site has no accounts, no cookies and no ads. It is a set of static pages, and it counts visits without knowing who you are.

Where the site is hosted

The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web server, Cloudflare receives your IP address and your browser's details when you open a page. The Cloudflare Privacy Policy covers what Cloudflare does with them. Preview copies of the site, made for pull requests, are served the same way and are hidden from search engines.

How visits are counted

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and to measure how fast pages load. Each page loads a small script from Cloudflare (static.cloudflareinsights.com). It sets no cookies, does not use your browser's storage, and does not follow you across sites. Cloudflare reports totals only, such as views per page, countries and load times, never data about a single visitor.

What stays in your browser

The site saves a few choices in your browser's local storage, so they are there on your next visit. They never leave your browser:

  • the theme (light or dark),
  • the language, when the site picked Portuguese for you or you chose one,
  • the tab you chose in a group of tabs, such as your programming language.

Clearing the site's data in your browser removes all of them.

When the site talks to other services

Apart from the visit count above, most pages load nothing from outside this site. The search runs in your browser, on an index that comes with the site. The "Try it with JavaScript" boxes run the JavaScript library from this site.

A few things load from other services, and only when you open them:

  • Live demos in the guides load the JavaScript library and the frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) from jsDelivr and esm.sh.
  • The address demo sends the CEP you type to public CEP services (ViaCEP, BrasilAPI and WideNet) to find the address. That is what the library's address lookup does.
  • The Team page shows profile pictures served by GitHub.

The libraries

The Brazilian Utils libraries run inside your program and send nothing anywhere. The only exceptions are the two CEP lookups, cep.getAddressInfo (the address of a CEP) and cep.getInfoByAddress (the CEPs of a street), which query public CEP services over the internet.
